The Health and Safety Executive’s display screen equipment (DSE) legislation requires employers to provide training and education on how to use DSE safely. It is important that workers know how to use their DSE and set-up their workstations to suit their individual needs, in order to be comfortable and productive.

This course may be used as part of an office’s induction programme or offered to staff on a yearly basis.

In this course you’ll learn the basic anatomy and biomechanics of the spine, healthy working postures when sitting and standing, and the causes of muscle soreness and injury. In addition, you will also be taught specific stretches and exercises that will both relieve and prevent muscle tension while improving flexibility.

It also covers the effects of malalignment and risks associated with computer use. There are also valuable guides on workstation set-up and the importance of exercises such as desk stretches and regular breaks.

This course is presented by Bronwyn Clifford MCSP MACPOHE. Bronwyn is a Chartered Physiotherapist and Ergonomic Consultant and is passionate about keeping people comfortable when working. With a background in physiotherapy and ergonomics, she knows which risk factors can cause discomfort and utilises her knowledge and expertise to educate people on how to manage and prevent them.
