Authorities that have the statutory right to enter a workplace for the purposes of investigating accidents, complaints or carrying out inspections include the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), Fire Authority, Police and the Environment Agency.

Premises / Health and Safety Managers should put in place a procedure to ensure that any liaison with an enforcing authority is dealt with by the appropriate person.
