When using food on set, the type of food and the way that food is handled or processed will determine whether you need to engage a Home Economist or whether a suitably trained member of the crew can prepare it.

To fulfil a food safety legal requirement, those handling, preparing and cooking food must be trained. The training should be proportionate to the risk.

There are stringent rules re temperatures, allergens, HACCP, cross-contamination and hygiene. Get it wrong and the consequences can be devastating.
