Deafness caused by exposure to noise at work is permanent and incurable.

Exposure to noise can also cause other forms of hearing damage such as tinnitus, which is a sensation such as ‘ringing’ or ‘buzzing’ in the ear, which can also occur in combination with hearing loss. Exposure can occur from various sources including the surrounding environment, headphones and earpieces.
